Personal Work from Christian Kozowyk: Aldro French

Christian created a body of personal work following Aldro French, the owner and caretaker of the Forest Lodge, the once-home of writer Louise Dickinson Rich that runs along Maine’s Rapid River.

Dickinson captured her remote and rugged surroundings in her 1942 book, We Took to the Woods. She lived in the house until shortly after her husband died, leaving many of her belongings behind. French’s father bought the house in the mid-1960s and eventually passed it on to French who remains dedicated to preserving the legacy and future of the place, of which he calls “hallowed ground.”
